Don’t look now, but influenza season is just around the corner. And if you’re 50 years of age or older, this could be the perfect time to consider getting your annual influenza vaccination.

Why? Because influenza is a highly contagious disease that can cause serious complications, especially in people who are considered at high risk. In fact, on average, more than 200,000 people in the United States are hospitalized and 36,000 die each year from influenza-related complications.1

Current guidelines from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) state that vaccination is recommended for anyone, including school-age children, who wants to reduce the likelihood of becoming ill with influenza or transmitting influenza to others should they become infected.2 The guidelines also recommend vaccination for specific groups at high risk for influenza-related complications…and that group includes people aged 50 years and older.2 With that in mind, Novartis Vaccines is offering onsite influenza vaccinations at this year’s Fifty Plus Expo. All you have to do is stop by our pavilion on November 11th to receive your vaccination! If you’d like to learn more about influenza and the benefits and risks of vaccination, we invite you to visit www.flusource.com

So help protect yourself and the many lives you touch. Get your influenza vaccination at the Novartis Vaccines Fifty Plus Expo booth on November 11th!  Influenza vaccination may not prevent the disease in 100% of individuals.  Persons should consult their healthcare provider to determine if they have a condition that precludes them from receiving the vaccine.  All vaccines have side effects.  The most common side effects of influenza vaccines include local reactions and mild general symptoms.
